In March 2023, artists Maverick Sabre, Jalen Ngonda and Hollie Cook each recorded live sessions at Snap Studios in North London.
Multi-talented musician and producer Ben Mckone presided over the studio's Custom 1977 Neve 53 Series mixing desk, orchestrating three timeless performances from these incredible artists.
Drawing inspiration from footage of legendary recording sessions at Muscle Shoals FAME recording studio, these videos were intended to encase the sessions with a nostalgic and historic feel for a newer generation.
To achieve this, I decided to shoot on mini-DV tapes using Panasonic NV-GS3 camcorders, which give a grainy, timeless texture befitting of the songs and performances, and trigger a nostalgic emotional response in an audience whose childhoods landed in the 1990's and early 2000's.
